The Royal Wedding

This morning millions of people from around the world woke up to watch the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. It was a royal gala that could only be rivaled by the wedding of Princess Diana some thirty years ago.  Why is that so many people are captivated by Royal Weddings? Perhaps because for a brief moment people have a chance to live a fairytale fantasy. It is a chance for so many to escape the harsh realities of life and for a brief moment, feel like royalty. Todays wedding certainly was breathtaking. It was filled with elegance and romance that most people crave for in their lives.  But does it take to have to watch a Royal Wedding to feel romance or the feeling of captivation in our lives? Maybe I am just a hopeless romantic.  I just think that everyone deserves the chance to live a life that they have always dreamed of. It is within our grasp if we open our minds and pursue what it is that we want to do. I think that is why so many flocked to watch the Royal Wedding today. For a brief moment, so many felt that they were living out their dreams or fantasies. Not of becoming royalty of course, but of imagining that they were able to sell that screenplay they have been working on. Maybe it was finally having the guts and starting their own business. Or meeting that special person we want to spend the rest of our lives with. It’s the sensation of feeling alive! Sadly it’s a feeling that so many of us lack today.  The Royal Wedding was an event that many people enjoyed, and rightly so. But I think if we worked more on ourselves and our own happiness, then maybe we wouldn’t have the need to watch a Royal Wedding in order to feel alive.
